Folklore Museum

Folklore Museum

The Folklore Museum of Milos is housed in a mansion of the 19th century and is located in Plaka, or more precisly next to the church of the Virgin Korfiatissa.

The museum was founded in 1967 by the "Union of the Athens Melians" (Milos Association in Athns) in order to highlight the lifestyle of the citizens of Milos after the 17th century, their daily activities, their costumes and of course their habits.

Each room of the mansion is a separate exhibition. The most characteristic rooms are the ones of the loom, kitchen, bedroom and the winepress.

Among all the eye-catching exhibits, it is the models of the Milos citizens with their local costumes, the embroideries, the furniture of the age, the daily utensils and many many photos that stand out.
